Senior Software Engineer (Wizard), Platform development, PHP, AWS

Job description:

A privately held, early stage small and already profitable company nestled in the epicenter of San Francisco's technology hub with other companies like Twitter, TechCrunch and Zynga is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join their team and who will become a key person responsible for the scalable and robust web platform design and development.

The team is made of ex-game developers and tech super-nerds with extensive experience in creating, launching and monetizing smartphone apps. They are looking for awesome people who are smart, motivated, and excited about working in a fast-paced environment. You should be able to context switch fast, and always be looking for ways to improve, both personally and for the company.

This position is for someone who lives and breathes platform and systems. You have a passion for scaling large sets of data and optimizing performance of a large network. You have the sys-admin chops required to build, tweak, deploy large systems but you are also very comfortable with architecture and design, database scaling and building maintainable systems.

Qualifications:

Strong desire to work in an early stage startup; startup work experience is highly desirable
Exceptional problem solving and learning abilities
Ability to be responsible for all aspects of web-based platform architecture, design, and development
Understanding core principles of scalable web systems design and implementation
Expert knowledge of PHP and LAMP stack
Willingness to learn Amazon Web Services
Understanding of core database principles, experience with large database sets, proper DB indexing, database sharding, efficient database backups
Experience setting up smart server monitoring, automated deployments and reductions, server fallbacks
Some experience in code deployment, integrating testing into code deploys

Pluses:

Experience with Amazon Web Services : EC2, Elastic Load Balancers
Experience with Load and Performance testing
Knowledge of Ruby
Experience with MongoDB, Reddis, SimpleDB, CouchDB, noSQL solutions
Experience with Cloudfront, Nagios or any other server monitoring systems
Knowledge of iOS and / or Android
