Manager, Product Strategy, Digital Media Location: San Mateo, CA Position type: full-time permanent Job description: Market leader and innovator in online video services, leading provider of optimization solutions for live and on-demand video streaming services is looking for a Lead Product Strategist to join their exceptional team in San Mateo. The Product Strategist will play a leading role in defining the company's product strategy and execution focus in a rapidly evolving online video industry. You will work closely with and influence individual product managers responsible for P/L of various products. A primary responsibility of the role is to steer company's product strategy planning process. This requires close co-ordination with an executive team comprising of leading media industry executives and pioneering academic researchers. You should be able to leverage company’s strong relationships with major customers, industry-wide vendor & analyst contacts and proprietary audience data to develop appropriate qualitative and quantitative frameworks to drive the planning process. You will also lead the communication to and alignment of all stake-holders on planned strategic objectives and performance metrics. *** The company values talent and enthusiasm and provides very generous compensations packages and flexible schedule with opportunity for partial telecommute. The central office location ensures easy commute to all places in Bay Area. *** Responsibilities: - Develop frameworks for analyzing online video industry structure & value chain dynamics; identify major business & technology trends and factor them into product strategy planning
- Gather data from multiple sources (including company's proprietary audience data, analysts and customers) to drive analytical evaluation of all strategic exercises
- Quantify market opportunities and sizes; assess benefits of new product launches
- Refine sales strategy with segmentation of global markets and prioritization of target segments; conceive and assess value of various partner channels; develop account qualification criteria to increase customer acquisition rates
- Create frameworks for evaluating product utility, competitiveness and positioning
- Perform pricing analysis to evaluate customer ROI and price sensitivity and generate guidelines for optimal pricing
- Identify performance measures for all strategic initiatives; monitor, evaluate and make periodic recommendations for improvement of product competitiveness, sales targeting & methodology, channel effectiveness, marketing etc
- Facilitate key product & market strategy decision-making with executive team; document and communicate strategic goals, priorities and performance measures to all stake holders
Qualifications: - Strong desire to work for a growing dynamic startup company and make it a success.
- MBA or equivalent; background in technology is a plus
- 3-4 years experience with product strategy
- Passionate about digital media and technology
- Prior experience in digital media preferred
- Superior analytical skills: ability to conceptualize frameworks, gather and analyze data and evaluate hypotheses
- Strong communication & presentation skills: ability to steer strategic reviews and discussions with executive team and product stake-holders
- Leadership skills with initiative and creativity to influence people without direct authority
- Ability to work in a startup environment with a dynamic team
